Workshop for all levels – for teenagers & adults
Flamenco is above all rhythm. The “Compás” determines dance, singing and music. In this workshop you will learn the most important rhythms of flamenco and the basic techniques of flamenco dance with a short choreography. The workshop will be accompanied live on guitar by Bruno Chmel.
Please put on suitable shoes, no flip flops or sneakers.
Workshop leader: Susanne Zellinger lived in Seville for several years, studied flamenco dance with the most renowned dancers and choreographers in Spain and taught flamenco dance in Austria. As a freelance cultural journalist for the OÖN, she wrote above all cultural reviews about modern dance and the ballet of Jochen Ulrich. She writes as a flamenco expert for the most important German dance magazine “tanz” and is editor-in-chief of the only German-language flamenco magazine ANDA. She gives lectures at international dance festivals, most recently at the Flamencobiennale in Holland and at the Flamencofestival in Düsseldorf on the subject of “Contemporary Flamenco Dance”. She curated the flamenco cycle in the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and photo exhibitions in the tanzhaus nrw. As part of her journalistic activities, she visits the most important European flamenco festivals every year and conducts interviews with the artists. She is also regularly invited to conduct public discussions after the performances.
